Social Media Content Writer

Kallang Bahru, Singapore

About the role:

We’re looking for a Social Media Content Writer to join our creative team and develop social-first content for a range of brands and clients.

This isn’t a traditional writing role.

We’re looking for someone who is strong with words, but also thinks beyond them. Someone who can take a client objective, find an interesting angle, shape the idea, and understand how it can come to life across different creative formats. While this role is hired under TSL, your day-to-day scope will be more agency-centric, working primarily across our retainer clients rather than TSL’s own social platforms. You’ll work on different brands and briefs, helping develop content that is tailored to each client’s objectives, audience and brand.

You’ll be the link between strategy and creative, taking ideas and turning them into clear, compelling scripts or outlines before handing them over to the creative team. Your work could range from high-utility infographics and relatable comic strips to short-form video scripts, social carousels

You should be able to think: What is the story? Who is it for? What is the best way to tell it? And how should we make it?

What you will do:

  • Curate & develop ideas
    • Take approved content ideas and curate the relevant information, references, examples and angles needed to bring them to life.
    • Research current conversations, trends, cultural moments and audience behaviours to make each idea timely and relevant.
    • Use your knowledge of current affairs, pop culture, internet culture and everyday life to add context and personality to the content.
    • Find the right stories, facts, references and examples to support the approved idea.
    • Adapt and shape the content based on the platform, audience and format it will be executed in.
    • Ensure the final content remains relevant to the client’s objective, brand and audience while still feeling natural for social media.
  • Shape content for creative
    • Work closely with designers, illustrators, videographers and editors to bring content to life.
    • Write and structure content with the final visual execution in mind.
    • Provide clear outlines, scripts and content directions for the creative team.
    • Understand how pacing, visuals, storytelling and copy work together.
    • Review creative executions and ensure the original idea and message come through.
  • Make client objectives work for social
    • Understand the client’s objective, audience and key message.
    • Translate strategic direction into clear, engaging social content, rather than marketing-heavy copy.
    • Know what the client needs to communicate, while finding a way to make it feel natural and relevant to the audience.
    • Keep the writing simple, human and social-first, rather than overly polished or corporate.

The successful candidate should have:
