Senior Business Development Executive (Advertising Sales)

About your role:

We are seeking a Sales & Business Development Executive to drive revenue growth by acquiring new clients, renewing contracts, and expanding business opportunities. 

In this role, you will develop and pitch tailored paid media solutions across The Smart Local Media Group’s platforms, collaborate with internal teams to execute successful campaigns, and build strong relationships with brands, agencies, and key stakeholders. 

You will also contribute to lead generation, strategic sales planning, market education, and sales reporting while staying ahead of industry trends to identify new opportunities.



What you will do:

Drive individual sales responsibilities and revenue achievement

  • Understand the Marketing Funnel (Awareness > Consideration > Purchase > Retention > Advocacy). Be able to develop/customize effective paid media solutions to onboard new clients, win contract renewals and grow the business and revenue.
  • Understand the Sales Process (Suspect > Prospect > Approach > Negotiate > Close > Order > Renew). Effectively deploy suitable strategies at each stage of the sales process to progress towards an eventual close/renewal.
  • [Inbound Sales] Fully manage and accountable for all inbound leads to hello@thesmartlocal.com. Respond within one business day to all qualified inbound leads, able to quantify leads, understand campaign briefs, independently work on proposals, close and renew deals.
  • [Outbound Sales] Generate new business leads through cold emailing and cold calling, craft media plans and work on campaigns proposals, with a key focus on assigned sales verticals and client accounts.
  • [KOL Sales] Liaise with client brands, talent executive/manager and agencies to develop winning advertising solutions and campaigns for TSL's KOLs.
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of TSL Media Group's product offering, workflows and processes.
  • Possess the ability to offer the best product recommendations and pitch effective ad solutions to clients across TSL Media Group (TSL MG)'s portfolio of brands and platforms.
  • Comfortable and confident in presenting, engaging and building positive, meaningful relationships with new and existing client/agency contacts.
  • Able to effectively engage and communicate with working to mid level client/agency executives.
  • Be present and at the forefront of relevant networking opportunities.

Cross-function and teamwork

  • Work closely with internal stakeholders and teams (e.g. Project Management, Finance, ThinkTank, Creative Social Media Team, Talent Management) to create and execute successful campaigns for sales clients

Sales reporting

  • Responsible for the timely and accurate updating of various sales reports including, but not limited to, CRM, TSLOS, Sales Deep Dive Report, Client Hitlist.

Support to line manager/Management

  • Support line manager (VP, BD - Regional) / Management in sales duties, sales pitches/decks, reporting needs etc., where required
  • Support in driving certain internal stakeholder conversations/discussions, where required
  • Any other adhoc support needed by line manager

Other responsibilities

  •   Stay up-to-date on industry trends, competitors, and market conditions to make informed decisions and maintain a competitive edge in relation to own assigned sales verticals. This research helps in identifying new revenue streams, innovative approaches, and potential threats to the business.
  • Ability to drive cross-functional collaboration for pitches and lead all efforts during pitch process.
  • Ability to independently develop TSLMG Credentials presentation (with suitable case studies and demonstrate understanding of client's business) and confidently present to mid-level stakeholders.
  • Drive education, adoption and advocacy of TSLMG's paid media solutions in the marketplace.
  • Responsible for the timely and accurate updating of various sales reports including, but not limited to, CRM, TSLOS, Weekly Sales Report, Sales Deep Dive Report, Client Hitlist.
  • Hiring/training/onboarding/covering duties for own team members/hires, as and when required.
  • Any other sales duties which may be assigned by line manager/management.

A successful candidate should have:

  • 3 to 5 years of sales or business development experience, preferably in digital media, publishing, content, social media, or advertising
  • Proven track record in closing deals and managing client relationships
  • Strong understanding of digital media, content marketing, social platforms, and branded content solutions
  • Confident communicator with experience presenting to mid- to senior-level stakeholders
  • Commercially driven with strong negotiation skills and business acumen
  • Relationship-focused, personable, and able to build credibility quickly with clients and agencies
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple accounts and priorities simultaneously
  • A team player who can work independently while collaborating effectively across teams
