About the role:
This position will be based in our Malaysia office located in Mid Valley, KL.
As a Finance Executive, you will support the finance team in managing daily financial operations, ensuring accuracy in transactions, timely collections, and adherence to financial controls. You’ll have the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals in a dynamic and fast-growing digital creative organization.
Your responsibilities include handling operational accounting functions such as GL, AP, and AR, performing daily bank reconciliations, assisting with month-end closing activities, and supporting GST/WHT/SST reporting. You will also help prepare yearly financial statements, participate in budgeting activities, and ensure proper cash flow management and compliance with financial policies.
This role reports to the Finance Manager, based in Malaysia.
What you will do:
Accounts Receivable & Revenue Management
- Support the accounts receivable function by preparing invoices accurately and on time, tracking collections, and assisting with reconciliations.
- Ensure proper documentation for revenue transactions and assist in maintaining accurate revenue recognition records in accordance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Support the Finance Manager in monitoring outstanding receivables and following up on overdue accounts.
Accounts Payable Management
- Process vendor invoices and staff claims accurately and promptly, ensuring adherence to internal controls and company policies.
- Prepare payment runs, track expenses, and assist in reconciling vendor statements.
- Work closely with internal teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure timely payment processing.
Financial Reporting
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Support month-end closing activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and schedule preparation.
- Ensure accounting records are maintained in compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Liaise with internal teams to support financial queries and provide necessary documentation.
- Coordinate with finance counterparts in Malaysia and Singapore to ensure consistency in processes and reporting.
Process Improvement
- Support process reviews to identify areas for improvement in accounts receivable and payable operations.
- Assist in implementing best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the finance function.
Others
- Perform daily bank reconciliations.
- Assist with external and internal audit requirements.
- Support tax submissions, including GST and SST filings.
The successful candidate should have:
- Minimum 2-4 years of relevant accounting experience working in a startup/tech/digital media industry
- Degree in Accountancy/Business/Finance
- Professional accounting qualifications will be an advantage.
- Good understanding of financial reporting standards, revenue recognition principles, and budget management.
- An energetic and proactive team player who can work independently with minimal supervision.
- Able to perform effectively under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
- Takes initiative and has excellent communication skills to engage with people from all levels and cross-department including peers, vendors, suppliers, clients and senior leaders
- Comfortable working in a startup culture: Demonstrates flexibility and is quick to adapt to changes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail and organizational ability.
- Proficient in Excel/Google Sheets and familiar with accounting software (Xero preferred).
- Able to commence work immediately (preferred)
