Business Development Assistant (MY)

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

About the role:

This position will be based in our Malaysia office located in Mid Valley, KL

X10 Media is the influencer marketing arm of The Smart Local. Brands come to us when they want creators to sell something for them, and someone has to find those brands first. That's this role.

You'll spend your time working out which companies should be running influencer campaigns and aren't, finding the right person there to talk to, and helping put together the pitch that wins the work. It's the commercial end of the business, and you'll see deals from the first cold email through to the signed agreement.

You should have the ability to commit to a minimum of 24-week (6 months) internship.

What you will do:

  • Source and prospect potential brands through different communication channels that could work for the company.
  • Craft proposals with suggested strategies and directions for potential brand collaborations.
  • Prepare campaign agreements/invoices for brands.
  • Be involved in company’s meetings and maybe be required to take part in company’s events.
  • Assist in strategist campaign ideation, content planning and executions regarding social media and video production.
  • To perform ad hoc duties as assigned.

The successful candidate should have:

  • You're studying or have just finished a Diploma or Degree. Business, communications and marketing are the obvious fits, but we're not strict about it.
  • You pay enough attention to social media to have opinions about it. Which creators are working right now, which brand campaigns landed, which ones were embarrassing.
  • You can write a clear email to someone you've never met, and you can take being told it needs another draft.
  • Team spirit and ease in building strong professional relationships.
  • Great people skills and strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Able to commit for a minimum of 24-weeks (6 months) internship

What you will gain:

  • Opportunity to enter the influencer marketing and media industry through a leading homegrown media company.
  • A folder of real proposals you wrote, for brands you can name in an interview. Most people finishing a business degree have coursework. You'll have work.
  • An understanding of how influencer campaigns get priced and sold. That's commercial knowledge people usually don't pick up until a couple of years into an agency, and it transfers to any sales or marketing job you take next.
  • Practical experience in business development and selling influencer marketing solutions.
  • Develop skills in identifying potential brand partners, crafting strategic campaign proposals, and managing campaign agreements and invoices.
  • Exposure to influencer campaign ideation, creator partnerships, social media content and video production.
  • Potential future employment opportunities based on performance.
